We recently started experiencing a problem only with our Thin Client
(Terminal Server) trying to use internet explorer. When one tries to get
onto Internet Explorer, they are getting this error:

Access Denied
Your system policy has denied access to the requested URL

I believe this has something to do with a change in the group policy (that I
did not do and I am not aware of).

Can anyone provide me any information to look at here? I would post this to
the terminal server group, but I am sure they would redirect me here.

Also, this problem seems to be intermitent.

Thanks for any information.

Hello bRad,

Check your policies under user configuration, windows settings, internet
explorer maintenance and also under user configuration, administrative templates, windows
components, internet explorer.

Also see computer configuration, administrative templates, windows components,
internet explorer.

Do you have ISA server running?

What does the error message look like? Is that a pop up message from IE
or a error site within IE instead of the site? Check rsop.msc on the
client - it lists the policies that are in place for the machine and
user. Meinolf already posted the "path" the policy could be configured.
Check to see whether this or another IE path is configured to restrict it.

I'd guess that, depending on the way the error message is displayed,
this isn't a GP problem but a proxy or firewall prevents access to the
site.

cheers,

Florian
