Using UNC paths in the filename

Is there a way to prevent a UNC path being used in the filename of the common
open/save dialog to browse the server in the path? eg if some enters
\\servername in the filename box of the common open/save dialog then they
will be able to browse the servername server. I already prevent using UNC
paths in explorer but this is a workaround I haven't been able to lock down
yet.
