Hello, I am having a heck of a time configuring winexit.scr to
automatically force a inactive user to log off. I have edited the
registry as instructed for a non-admin account. What do you do to
force a user to log off after a period of inactivity.

Thanks

I would be careful using this method as it really logs the user off -
unsaved work will be destroyed.

Cheers,
Florian

Florian,

Woudn't that be a workstation lock and not a logout?

Yeah, that might be true. There are actually two screensavers out there
with that functionality. One for a lock of the machine, another for a
logoff. I keep confusing the two.

I wasn't sure, which was why I asked. :-)

Cheers!

Hello, I am ok with forcing a logoff for our labs. We use a
workstation lock for our employees. I got it to work with a registry
tweak and gpo. However, now my problem is when the monitor goes to
sleep (say it is set for 20 minutes) and I have the log off time set
for 30 minutes of inactivity, log off will not work if the monitor
goes to sleep. For now I just set the monitor sleep for after the log
off time.

Good to hear, wuzzle.

I'm curious as to what registry setting did you alter, group policy
setting you used, and what article or link did you follow? Please post
your solutions so it may help others if they happen to need the same
thing.

Thanks!

Use Group Policy - it can be done there.
