Authenticated Users/Domain Users Question

Recently, we upgraded to Windows 2003 native (we raised the Domain Functional
level to Windows 2003). A few weeks later, I noticed that I didn't have an
Authenticated Users group. All users seem to be listed under Domain Users.
(If it helps to answer this question, our network consists of a
single-domain)

Questions:
1) Does the Authenticated Users group go away with Windows 2003 native?
2) If not, would there be any reason why I am not able to find Authenticated
Users (and would I need to find a way to restore it?)
3) If I have the Domain User group, why would I need a separate
Authenticated User group?

Authenticated user also includes authenticated machines. Authenticated
users have read rights to gpos be default because machines need to see
them as well for machine policies

Does authenticated user go away in Win2K3 native mode, though? It has on my
network. It would seem that Domain Users ARE Authenticated users, anyway (as
I add computer accounts to a domain).

Why would I LOSE my Authenticated Users group, and
1) How do I restore it, if it is still needed? Is there an example of an
Authenticated User that is NOT a Domain User in a W2K3 DC world?

You know, I've never seen authenticated users in the build-in groups
list, but whenever I type it in at some ACL dialog box, it just works.
That may be what you are seeing.
