I want to add a Group Policy for Folder Redirection. I
want to redirect the "My Documents" and "Desktop" to a
seperate folder in each users home directory.

\%username%
\My Documents
\Desktop

I can redirect the folders just fine. Here is my
question:

If I delete a file from the redirected "My Documents"
folder, the file is placed in the "Recycle Bin". If i
delete a file from the redirected "Desktop", the file is
just deleted. Gone! (since is really is on a network
share) I noticed that the "Recycle bin" has a new tab
for "My Documents". Is there a way to include the
redirected Desktop in the "recycle bin"? (Since most
users are used to deleting files in "My Documents"
and "Desktop" and having it placed in the "Recycle
Bin".) I know VSS can help with this on the back-end,
but want the end-user to remain in control of deleted
docs.

Also, can anyone foresee any issues with redirecting
the "Desktop" Folder other than the above mentioned?

Thanks in advance.

The basic answer is that the My Documents folder is treated differently than
the Desktop folder (code was added to handle this as a special case). As
you stated the Desktop folder is just being treated as a network share so
moving the file to the Recycle Bin is not used.

There is not a built in way to add other redirected folders to include a
Recycle Bin functionality when on a network. That functionality may change
in future versions.
