I am also having these errors in my event log. I have been reading the
articles here to try and find a resolution but nothing has worked.
I have a Windows Server 2003 AD with two Windows Server 2003 DC's, 2
Windows NT 4.0 Server BDC's and one Windows 2000 member server. I get
the 1030 and 1058 errors on both 2003 DC's. The gpt.ini file does
exist where it should on both servers. I have checked the permissions
on the SYSVOL share and everything is as it should be, no permissions
were ever changed. The TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper service is set to auto
and is running. I am having no errors in the event log for the FRS.
When I try to browse to the
\\mydomain.com\sysvol\mydomain.com\Policies\{31B2F340-016D-11D2-945F-00C04FB984F9}\gpt.ini
path or any part of that path, I get prompted for logon credentials.
When I put in the correct credentials, i.e. Administrator account, I
get an error saying that I was unable to log in. When I try to go to
change the Default Domain Security Policy, the Default Domain
Controller Security Policy or any group policy that I have placed on
an OU, I get an error window that pops up telling me that access is
denied. I cannot access any other shares on the network. If I do, I
get the results I mention earlier about being prompted for log on
credentials. I have tried to use the GPMC tool to access group
policies but I get the same access denied error. I can resolve all
servers via DNS and am getting no replication errors anywhere.
This network has been in place for about 4 weeks now. We were not
having this problem originally. A single change was made to the
default domain policy on 8/22 and since then we have had this problem.
I tried going back to the original policy but when I try to run the
'secedit /refreshpolicy machine_policy /enforce', I get kicked back to
the command prompt showing me the available switches for the secedit
command and the /refreshpolicy is not listed as an option.
Any assistance for a resolution for this problem will be sincerely
appreciated!
