I'm deploying printers with Group Policy preferences to XP sp2 computers
using KB943729 client side extensions. I deleted the deployed
printers from the policy and they did not delete from the client.
Adding a delete printer record doesn't work. I don't see any GP errors
in the event viewer.

Thanks,

Right. Expected behavior. Thats why GPPs are PREFERENCES and NOT!
Policies.

First guess: Wrong sort order or wrong item level targeting
Adding a "delete" is what you need to do, to revert your settings.

What should the order be? The delete entries are 3 and 4. The printer
CB-LABPHASER does delete eventually, CB-LABB-W doesn't. Here is the xml:

When I log on as a user I get both old printers and new printers (as
shown in the xml bellow). When I run gpupdate the CB-LABPHASER printer
is deleted but the CB-LABB-W remains.

Is there a cache of these settings on the local machine that I can delete?

thanks,
Andy Zirkel

When I log on as the local administrator account the two printers that I
want to delete are there. If I delete them then log off and back on as
the local administrator account they come back.

I enabled logging on the policy. Here, I think, is the relevant section
of the trace log. Nothing stands out to me.

In case anyone is interested I was able to delete the persistent
printers with the following command:

reg delete
HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Connections\,,SERVER,PRINTER /f

Where SERVER is your print server and PRINTER is the printer definition.

Thanks,
Andy Zirkel
