How to resize magnified window and 2nd button function?

I've watched the tutorial several times and it looks like you push and hold
the mag button then move the mouse in one of four directions to adjust the
window size but nothing happens when I do that. The mouse graphics with the
red arrows do show. I also can't figure out what the longer button behind the
mag button is for. Nothing happens when I click or press it in or out of mag
mode. Thanks
