I'm having an issue when trying to join a client-PC to our domain at
work. The procedure fails saying that the network name was not found.
The problem is not caused by the DC, the active directory or the group
policy, since I have done the same thing for more than 100 clients
without any problem at all.

After some research, I found that problems like this could be caused
by the NIC driver or settings. The thing is, those clients are exactly
the same machine type with the exact hardware, software and drivers.

I checked both computer and user accounts for this particular client,
numerous times. I've also deleted and created new ones. No success
though.

The client's event viewer reports nothing related to the problem. TCP/
IP configuration is also checked.

Any ideas to avoid reinstalling Windows XP?

Thanks!

Hi,

Try to use FQDN and see if it works.

Hello,

I've tried it, but didn't solve the problem.

Thanks again!

Also check your NIC TCP/IP setting under DNS tab, does it append parent DNS
suffix?

Do nslookup for domain controller and see your DNS resolve to right ip.
