cannot read memory.dmp file

I used to be able to run dumpexam and gather some basic information from a
memory.dmp file. Now I am trying to use the Windbg utility but I am not
getting very far. Below is an example. What am I missing?

The dump looks corrupt. How was it generated? What version of the
debugging tools are you using?

Your memory.dmp file might be corrupt. This is a known problem on Windows
NT 4.0 only, though.
