How to start a new document and choose a template
To start a new document in Inspiration 9, you can either click on the New button on the toolbar or go to File > New. You will see a window that lets you choose a template for your map. Inspiration 9 has over 100 templates for different subjects and purposes, such as brainstorming, planning, writing, studying, and presenting. You can browse the categories on the left or use the search box on the top to find a template that suits your needs. You can also preview the template by clicking on it.

Once you have chosen a template, click on OK to open it in Inspiration 9. You will see two tabs on the bottom of the screen: Diagram and Outline. The Diagram tab shows your map in a graphical view, while the Outline tab shows your map in a linear view. You can switch between the two views at any time by clicking on the tabs.

How to add symbols, text, images, and links to your map
To add symbols to your map, you can either drag and drop them from the Symbol Palette on the right or use the RapidFire tool on the toolbar. The Symbol Palette has over 2000 symbols for different topics and themes, such as animals, arts, science, math, and more. You can browse the categories on the left or use the search box on the top to find a symbol that matches your idea. You can also customize your own symbols by using the Symbol Maker tool on the toolbar.

To add text to your map, you can either double-click on a symbol or use the Text tool on the toolbar. A text box will appear where you can type your text. You can also edit your text by using the formatting tools on the toolbar or by right-clicking on the text box.

To add images to your map, you can either drag and drop them from your computer or use the Image tool on the toolbar. You can also insert images from online sources by using the Web tool on the toolbar. A window will open where you can enter a URL or search for an image using Bing. You can resize, rotate, crop, and adjust your images by using the handles around them or by right-clicking on them.

To add links to your map, you can either drag and drop them from your browser or use the Link tool on the toolbar. A window will open where you can enter a URL or browse for a file on your computer. You can also link to other documents or pages within your document by using the Document Link tool on the toolbar.
