Hi All,
Does anyone know where to get the symbols or the link to MS symbols server
for Vista SP1 (Service Pack 1.658)?

Is that the RC1 build (6001.17052.071129-2315)? If yes, can you
try the symbol server again (.symfix)? RC1 symbols should be available
there now.

Hi Pavel,

Thanks for your reply.
My SP1 is not RC verison, mine is (6001.17042.071107-1618).
Please refer the log from Windbg as below:

Symbol search path is:
SRV*C:\WINDOWS\Symbols*http://msdl.microsoft.com/download/symbols
Executable search path is:
*** ERROR: Symbol file could not be found. Defaulted to export symbols for
ntkrpamp.exe -
Windows Kernel Version 6001 (Service Pack 1.658) MP (2 procs) Free x86
compatible
Product: WinNt, suite: TerminalServer SingleUserTS Personal
Built by: 6001.17042.x86fre.longhorn_rc1.071107-1618

Do you have any other comment? Thanks!

The Symbols for this version are not available through the symbol server or
any other means, you need to get the RC1 (6001.17052.XXXXX) for this to
work.

Willy.

Symbols for this build should be available on
https://connect.microsoft.com/windows/Downloads.

Hi Pavel and Willy,

I have downloaded the symbol file and tried to connect the symbol server too.
But it seems not working. The error message is the same as below.

Symbol search path is:
SRV*C:\WINDOWS\Symbols*http://msdl.microsoft.com/download/symbols
Executable search path is:
*** ERROR: Symbol file could not be found. Defaulted to export symbols for
ntkrpamp.exe -

Thanks for your reply and any comments?

DO NOT put anything in any Windows directory. Use C:\Symbols or something
similar.

What's available on connect are RC1 17052 (dated 12/4/2007) and the November
CTP build, but I don't see the Preview 17042 version, am I missing
something?

Willy.

Downloaded what version? AFAIK, the 17042 version is not available any
longer on connect.

Willy.

Hi Willy,

Thanks for your quick response.
We are not using the latest one.
I know the current one is RC(6001.17042.071107-1618) but we are using RC
Preview(6001.17042.071107-1618) which is released on 07/11/14.

Well, this is what I said before, only the latest (RC1) is available for
download, why do you want to stick to an older version while a newer version
is available including the symbols?

Willy.

Hi Willy,

Yes, I understand this.
We are developing new laptop product and the OS part is not controled by us.
I will try to push them for updading new version but I still need to debug
the system.
