this one has me & a computer tech. bazzled.
loaded windows 98, then all the other stuff I use, but when I loaded
aol5.0 on my computer it took 4 files out of the system ini folder "3
were .vxd & 1 was the msnp32.dll," found the .vxd & the .dll files in the
aol folder but the msnp32.dll file is still not being found apaun bootup.
Windows 98 loads up till just before my login password, then the
msnp32.dll problem arrises "something abt. the dynamic library" I just
click on it and go about my buiseness, been in every thing on my computer
as normal for use & don't seem to have any problems with it including
aol.com or gameing.
my question is how to get this file to be found by the computer so I don't
have to click on it every time I boot up, as of now I have copied it on
to c:\, c:\windows, c:\windows\system, c:\windows\system32, & is on my
desk top till I know what else to do with it,, it's mainly a aggravation
to go thru this every time I boot up since it doesn't seem to affect any
of my normal functions w/ my computer.
Any input will be appreciated & tahnks in advance...

Computers are based on precision and accuracy. Try searching the
Microsoft Knowledge Base for a reference to "something about the
dynamic library" and you won't find much that is particularly useful
in resolving this particular issue.

When requesting assistance with a technical problem it is extremely
important to quote the actual error message(s) verbatim as even the
addition or absence of a single word can mean that the cause of the
error is entirely different.

In your instance, I am forced to presume that you are getting a DLL
file version type error such as might happen if a file was overwritten
by an older version of the file.

Use Start - Run and enter SFC in the dialog box. Select the "Extract
one file..." option and enter msnp32.dll in the "Specify system file
.." dialog box. This will extract a new copy of the file from the
Win98 CD which, from what little you have posted, I hope will resolve
your problem.

Good luck.
