Hi

Since recovering Win98 after a crash if after a restart scandisk runs it
does not finish automatically but stops and asks for confirm, do I want a
physical check of drive and so on. Anybody know how to get it to finish
automatically and allow Win98 to boot without human intervention? I do NOT
want to disable it just have ti finish up automatically. TIA.

Change the setting in your MSDOS.SYS file:

Under [options]

AUTOSCAN=0
disable automatic scandisk.

AUTOSCAN=1
automatic scandisk, preceded by the error message (default)

AUTOSCAN=2
automatic scandisk with no error message.

Also look into the settings in the scandisk.ini file in your \windows\command directory. You can set it to handle any errors it finds in a specific way, thus cutting down additional intervention that would be needed if it did find a problem.
