Trying to load all of my fav software on new (Win2000) PC.
I've had Picture It! Express (v2.0) on my old (Win98SE)
system. I finally found where it came from after going
through almost every MS installation CD that I own. I
found it on the Windows98 "PLUS!" CD. I'd like to load it
on my new system but can't get it off the PLUS CD. I know
there are generally all sorts of "command line" setup
options but can't figure any out for this one. Can any of
you expert MVPs help me out?

I had the same proplem with FrontPage Express but found it
all in one cab file as well as available on the web. But
no such luck with Picture It! Express.......

Thanks for any suggestions/instructions!!

Please don't cause us more work by posting the same question to different newsgroups. Answered in win98.apps

Sorry, RON! But people in different areas have different
levels of skill and knowledge about a particular product
or process. This is obviously true since you were not
able to come close to answering my inquiry. I could offer
the suggestion that you might not waste OUR time by
attempting to answer a question by
suggesting "alternatives" rather than "solutions."

Sorry to be so "testy" but your comment/advise here was
totally unnecessary. I obviously know the ramifications
of posing the same inquiry on several forums.... I made
note at the foot of my inquiry that it was cross-posted...
SO you didn't have to go looking for it just to post your
grievance.

Jake

You won't be bothered anymore by me. I only help people who are polite. I don't like this response and I didn't appreciate your DUH! comment on the other post. If you had told me you had tried installing Plus! on W2K in your initial post, I would not have suggested it. I don't use W2K so I could not try installing Plus! on it before my posting. You are not going to find an answer that you like because there is no way to separate out the installation routine on the Plus! CD. It creates registry entries and installs files in the system folder that Picture It needs to work.

The fact is you posted the same question and I had to open it and start reading it to realize that I already answered it--that causes me more work. I could have ignored it but the usual reason that people cross post is because they don't know better. Hence my request that started with the word, Please.

Before you start throwing rocks at Irfanview, why don't you check out its capabilities? It will probably out perform Picture It

First af all, Ron, I wasn't the one who was "impolite."
Your response *appeared* to make an assumption of
stupidity, or AT LEAST ignorance. Although I DO
understand where that comes from, I personally find it
somewhat offensive that someone *assumes* that I haven't
tried the OBVIOUS solutions first, BEFORE posting here. I
don't think even the most novice user would NOT try
to "INSTALL" the program through the normal process,
first. That's why I said, "DUH!" Secondly, I did NOT, as
you state, "throwing rocks at Irfanview." YOU stated that
it was a "viewer," not me. And since I'm interested in
the PictureIt! Express photo "editor," I mearly stated
that Irfanview may not be what I need. Anyway, I DID
check it out. It looks like a fine program and it, in
fact, does have *some* editing features. I didn't
download it because I already have some alternatives to
PictureIt!Express. But they are actually MORE than I
prefer.

Finally, as far as my "cross posting" is concerned. I
rarly cross post, but my observation that different people
have different interests and skills, it is *sometimes*
beneficial to cross post when the inquiry falls into
different areas; such as Win98 "Applications" and "setup"
and PictureIt. Any ONE person hitting all of these board
areas would immediately recognize my post by the subject
line alone......... AND be able to simply bypass it. When
my inquiries fall into ONE distinct area, I do not cross
post.

Again, Thanks for your efforts........

I am not a mind reader so I do not know the level of your expertise. The information you list in your post is what I have to work with. Since you did not state that you tried an installation, that is the obvious starting place. Before I try to formulate a complicated response, I check out the simple stuff first. And, you would be utterly amazed at the amount of people who have not tried the obvious. I see that you have posted to the newsgroups 21 times according to Google. Why don't you spend an hour reading posts and see if you can figure out an answer given the limited information that is normally provided.

As to the cross posting, I read hundreds of posts a day and I have answered about 4200 this year according to Google. Why do you assume that I am going to remember my name let alone the title of a post? The fact is your question should have been made in general discussion. W98 apps is for programs that ship with W98 but do not have a dedicated newsgroup. Setup is for W98 setup problems. However, I don't really care where you post--I will try to answer you if I can or give you directions to a source where you are more likely to be answered. If you must post to more than one newsgroup, then put both newsgroups on the same message and I will only see one then.
