Hi,
I have a user trying to VPN into his uni network,he can do
it fine from home but not from within the corporate LAN so
i need to open the relevant ports on the router, what I
need to know is what ports the windows VPN needs to use.

You have to be using a router that has the ability to
pass through VPN routes. Is he connecting to the same
router from home? Chances are they are different. Check
it out. "Pass through" is the key.
I hope this helps.

I think you will find that the router will need to have
port 1723 open for tcp and it will need to permit GRE
(assuming you are using PPTP).
