Hi, i have installed Win98SE on my Compaq Presario 1246 by myself,
because i lost the product key of the official restore CD. I got all
the drivers from a zip file that i found on that disc. But in the
previous (official) installation, the laptop was able to hibernate via
Windows. But now, there's only Stand-by in the shutdown menu. And there
was a hibernation tab in the power management settings screen. Also, on
the Advanced tab, there were 2 drop-down lists where i was able to set
what the notebook had to do when i closed the screen or pressed the
power button. Now this all has gone. How can i get it back? I tried new
hardware detection, but it only found a sound card. There is a
Compaq/Phoenix BIOS hibernation preparation utility (phdisk.exe) on the
disk, but that doesn't help. I enabled all the power management
settings in the BIOS.
