When I choose Standby either thru "power Management" or from the Start menu
,The system will go into standby (as it should) but the system won't go thru
an orderly shutdown after that. The screen displays colored garbage and then
hangs. Any help?

There is no good way to troubleshoot this kind of problem, since any device
driver or software that's loaded and running at the time can cause hangs
like this. The only reliable solution is not to use power saving modes that
you know cause problems.

Not too encouraging. Someone else also shares your skeptcism re: Windows
98's powr saving modes. I may have to just live without stand by.
