SD/MM Card Reader Problem

Recently I installed a crad reader and its driver for my Win98se OS...After
for a while, once i plugged in the reader the windows screen started frozen
but it was unplugged then it'd be fine again...So i deleted the hardware(USB
Mass Storage Device) from Syetem's Device Manager but i can still see the
driver(Multimedia Card Reader) in the Add/Remove Programs...But the screen
was still frozen if i plugged in the reader...

1. What should i do to get the hardware back?...Should i unintall and then
re-install the driver first?....The step-by-step guidence please...
2. Why did it appear to be USB Mass Storage Device but not Multimedia Card
Reader in the Device Manager since i intended to install a card reader?...
