Excel can not open xls file. Is this file corrupted and if it does, how to repair it?

I think that one of my xls files is corrupted, because Excel says that this is not his format. How to repair it?

Need few more details to help you.
1- Exact error message that you are getting while opening Excel file
2- Which operating system and which version of Excel you are using ?
If you provide these details then it will be easy to help you.

For now you can try these Microsoft's guidelines to repair corrupted Excel file
created in Excel 2003 and 2002.
