i'm looking for assistance setting up a sony dig 8 vid cam with netmeeting
the video doesnt show my cam as an option so i must have to install a driver
somewhere. i already have the cam going over usb and also thru my firewire
card - but netmeeting doesnt recognize it yet
thanks
Generally firewire/dv combos do not supply the old style VFW dirvers that
NetMeeting requires and cannot be used directly as video sources.
the video options does list a cam ("Microsoft DV or VCR") but i have no pic
in the window...seems that it is almost there...especially if it recognized
a "Microsoft DV source...doesnt that mean they have a driver?
thanks,
matthew

I don't know where to look for further information -- but if you can get
your dv camera to work as a video source for NM -- quite a number of DV
camera owners I am sure might be interested
I'm not expecting much, though.

"your current experience is the norm", are you mean that windows XPs'
Netmeeting does not recongize digital cams at all?
please clarify, too.

Noted your nice hints on the internet to use Trackercam.
and was hoping that this would solve the 'MS-Netmeeting DV video capture'
void.
I understand that the Digital Video (DV) signal/packet includes next to the
Video also the Audio.
The ('synchronised') Audio should be 'removed'/filtered to have a clean
video packet ready for MS Netmeeting.
Netmeeting uses seperate Audio and Video compression techniques and thus
requires seperate Audio and Video (AV) signal.
With your hints I suspect Trackercam can do filter these, but unfortunately
cannot yet see it ....
I've installed the free Trackercam 3 and
with my JVC GR-DVP3 via a IEEE 1394 (firewire, i.link)
Trackercam does yet not capture !
1. Does the TI driver (which has been automatically installed) not work with
Trackercam?
Because the (with the capture card supplied) video editing program (Ulead
Video studio 4 SE )
works fine with the
driver from Texas Instruments (TI)
(as seen at my MS98 OS: Control Panel>System>Tab Device Manager>'Sound,
video and game controller' which shows
a driver: 1394 DV Camcorder),
the conclusion should be that my current IEEE card and hardware works fine.
What I've learned sofar from 'simular' problems that
the Adobe Video editing program requires
to remove the TI driver and install a Microsoft (MS) driver at
the 'Imaging devices'.
2. Does Trackercam requires the MS driver?
With regards,
Walter
