Hi,
Has anyone seen a problem with a user downloading a theme
executable for the Internet. This executable changes the
standard Windows 98 startup and shutdown screens.
Basically they look like the Grinch who stole X-mas.
Anyone know how to change this back?

Thanks for any comments

Three files, they may be hidden if you have that option set in Explorer,
comprise the start and shutdown screens. Logo.sys (start screen) is in
the C:\ directory either as its own file or it is imbedded in the io.sys
file. The imbedded file displays unless there is an actual logo.sys file
present in which case it displays. The logow.sys (wait screen) and
logos.sys (shut off screen) are located in the C:\Windows folder.

To get rid of the opening screen, delete the logo.sys file from C:
Delete the current logos.sys and logow.sys files in the Windows folder.
Take a look in the Windows folder and see if the original logos and
logow files were renamed (i.e., logow.old) by the replacement and, if
so, rename them back to what they were. If they were overwritten, use
the extract option of sfc.exe to replace the files from the W98 CD
