I downloaded 2.2, but I did not find a location that differentiated between
retain and OEM. If you happen to know off hand where on Microsoft's site
the choice of versions is given, I would greatly appreciate it if you let me
know.
BTW, I also have the regular PS/2 mouse driver installed, and it works fine.
The wheel even works in IE and some windows boxes, but not on other
software. I hear that version 2.2 works in a greater assortment of
software. I'm still using Office 95 (7.0, I believe), and I'm hoping that
2.2 will allow the intellimouse wheel to work there also.
Thanks,

Well, Thanks for the reply anyway (and thanks to Milli Staples, too)! I've
been there myself, and found the same thing. I have the executable install
file, but it wants to see a previously installed intellimouse driver. I
wonder if there is a way to fool it.
Anyway, it looks like I'll be calling Tiger tomorrow to see about that
driver or a disk. I don't understand why it isn't available from MS for
OEM. The only other trick I can see is to get a PS/2 to serial converter
and use the serial driver if I can find such a contraption. That wheel is
the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Tom,
There's several places on the web you can download the old drivers
from. Try this one to start: http://www.localaccess.com/compute/
Click on the top button called "Drivers" and you'll see the links for
the "full" 2.0 version and the 2.2 upgrade.
I'm actually running this version 2.0 on my PC right now. Ever
since I upgraded to Win98, my regular MS Mouse 2 (serial) has been
having problems getting the right mouse button to work. Did the
latest 2.2c upgrade and it's dead again. Deleted it and went back to
the 2.0 version, everything working fine. So much for the upgrade.
Rich
BINGO!!! That worked. I installed 2.0, followed by 2.2. It scrolls in
Word 95. This is a good thing, since I'm nearing the end of the semester
and have a ton of writing to do. I'm still going to get hold of Tiger, but
not today. I was on hold for 30 minutes trying. Must be busy on saturdays.
Last time I called them, it only took about 4 minutes, but that was on a
weekday.
I poked around MS yesterday evening, but the site kept steering me to call
the computer manufacturer. I'm going out on a limb here, but I'd rather
deal directly with MS on these matters. Unfortunately, they seem to direct
all OEM software problems to the mfr.
Thanks again for the great tip,
Tom Wilk
