I have installed a new 40 GB HDD. I have upgraded my bios
and CMOS reconizes the HDD as a 40GB. Win98 will not, it
reconizes it as a 8.62GB HDD. I have partitioned the HDD
to maximum capasity. Also my motherboard will support up
to a 80GB HDD.

This is relevant for a 80Gb drive, and might also apply for the smaller one.
