I recently found out that holding the alt key and typing 2 4 8 on the keypad
inserts a degree mark ( ° ). Does anyone know if other symbols can be
inserted like that, and if so where a list of them could be found. Thanks.

Typing 248 will give the ascii character and 0248 will give the ansi character. Use Character Map to see what code maps to what character (most windows fonts are ANSI rather than ASCII).

Hi

Yes, you can open Character Map by clicking Start - Programs -
Accessories - System Tools - Character Map.

Pick a font, click a character and look to the bottom right
hand corner and the key combination will be displayed.

Course we do.
Programs/accessories/system/character map.

If its not there you may have to go to Control panel/
Add/remove programs/windows setup to add it to your menu.

Actually, that might be:
Add/remove programs/windows setup/System Tools/Details/Charmap

to add it to your menu.
