Dear All,

I am trying to set up a Win98 on my friend's Acer Aspire computer.
It model may be "V65MA" (not sure). It's made around 1998 with
P-II 300 on an micro-ATX board. My friend LOST all the setup disks.
So, I downloaded the sound and display driver on the web.

The computer was installed with a 3c509 and it's connected on
a LAN tapped to the Internet. After the installation, the machine
could ping to neighbour machines with IP addresses. It can also
telnet and FTP to some known hosts on the Internet with IPs.
xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx. However, it couldn't resolve any domain name
like host.abc.com. I have checked MANY MANY times there
are valid DNS entries on CONTROL PANEL -> NETWORK->
TCPIP->DNS.

However, the problem couldn't be solved though I tried for many
many times.

May you tell me what's the problem was ?

FYI, I have successfully installed Win9x on hundred of PCs but it's
the first for me to face this difficult machine !!

Thank you very very much in advance !

What happens when you ping the DNS server's address?

Some DNS servers could be ping'ed but some couldn't
(It's likely that some were blocked by their firewall!)

Any idea ?

Thanks a lot !
