I would like to know if it is possible to get the Windows 95 Interface to
display exactly like a Windows for Workgroups/3.1 interface.

I know that I can select progman from the files in the windows 95 directory
and this will run progman, however this does not change the windows 95
maximise and minimise icons which I would like if poss.

If anyone has any suggestions I would greatly appreciate them

I am running windows 95 OSR 2

Using Progman.exe to do certain functions can also hose your system--I
do not recommend that anyone use it except in case of an emergency.

Those buttons are built into the OS. The only way to get rid of them is to get rid of Win 95. Alternatively to using progman, you may want to try the following. It doesn't change the max and min buttons, but it may look a little more like Program Manager. In the shell= line of your system.ini file (in the [boot] section), change it to read as follows:

C:\WINDOWS\EXPLORER.EXE /root,c:\windows\start menu\programs

If the path to your Start Menu is different than is listed above, make the according changes.
