Conner 170 HD
Tekram 280 IDE controller
NE2000 Compat. NIC
What happens is every time I I go through the installation reboot sequence,
I get:
Installation of VFBACKUP
VFBACKUP cannot load vfd.vxd
Please run setup again.
I have been through this at least 20 times.
I went through the troubleshooter at the MS site. No help, could be partly
because while going through about four screens where I keep answering this
don't work and that don't work all of which mean that win95 still won't
boot in SAFE mode, the troubleshooter out of the blue recommends that I go
to SYSTEM in CONTROL PANEL (what's wrong with this suggestion?).
I followed the instructions to the letter in the knowledge base just for
this problem.
It didn't work.
The file is there, and I have replaced it several times from my notebook
system, but it still can't load it.
Please send suggestions to my email.
Thanks
Mike

I have even replaced the IDE controller card with an ISA card. No Luck.

You need to add the line
DoubleBuffer=1
to your msdos.sys file. The problem is that your SCSI adapter was
not detected as requiring double-buffering.

I just would like to know what driver this is and what hardware uses it. So
I can get an idea of where the problem is.
My video card is brand new. It has very new drivers. Only one step behind
the ones on STB's web site. The only thing new is support for DirectX they
said. The Zip drive apparently installs as a SCSI even if it's parallel.
Perhaps there is a problem there.

It means that WIN can't that type of file, usually those types are located
in the C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM
check the recycling Bin for deleted files
I have an intel adv/zp p75 with WD 1gig HD 540MB both WD caviar 16MB STB
64V video card Zip drive.
Is this related to the Zip? It's parallel port.
Why do I get this error and what does this driver do or belong to?
Thanks
Steve

I do not have SCSI controller card. My EIDE controller is on the Intel
Adv/zp MB. This is a PNP BIOS board that auto installs the HDs.
This error occurs only occasionally. I recently installed ActiveMovive.
Since the restart from safe mode, it lost it's file associations. Strange,
but I have not had a problem since not reinstalling the file associtaions.
I have added DoubleBuffer=1 anyway.
