I'm just wondering, my company has used Windows 95 which was
preinstalled in those IBM machine and they have all that support
information and IBM logo, can I do the same in my windows 95 original
version? I've heard someone said adding a ini file in the system
directory and a bitmap file called oemlogo.ini and oemlogo.bmp will
work. But I've tried and it didn't work. So How can I do that?
Thanks,
Kevin.
Here's the layout of the OEMINFO.INI file. It belongs in your
\WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory along with a suitably-sized
OEMLOGO.BMP
; Sample OEMINFO.INI
; 3/23/95
; This file contains manufacturer, model and support information
; that is displayed in the system control panel.
; Manufacturer and Model are displayed on System.General page
; Manufacturer is a required field
[general]
;Be carefully not to leave any trailing spaces after your manufacturer
name!
Manufacturer=Iain D. Bowie
Model=P166 + Tyan Tomcat I m'board
; The [OEMSpecific] keys are not displayed,
; but may be used by the OEM for system-specific information.
[OEMSpecific]
;SubModel=456A0123 ;optional additional oem info
;SerialNo=12345678 ;etc.
;OEM1=Your private info ;etc.
;OEM2=More private info ;etc.
; Support Info displayed when "Support Information..." button selected
[Support Information]
; Info appears staggered here, but is lined up in actual display
Line1 =" IAIN D. BOWIE"
Line2 =
Line3 =" xx, xxxxxxxxxxxx"
Line4 =" xxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxx"
Line5 =" Huddersfield"
Line6 =" West Yorkshire"
Line7 =" HD8 xxx"

Line9 =" Phone - Home: 01484-xxxxxx"

If You want to change the startupscreen known as logo.sys, replace it with
any other bitmap, 256 color, 320*400. Windows95.com got a couple of them.

Hi Kevin,
I can asure you it'll work on your Windows 95 version because i've
tried many different versions of Windows 95 and they all work with it
(even the beta's).
You're right when you said that these files must be in the
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory, but you must know a couple of things.
First of all the bitmap must be (very important!!!) in the 172x100
pixels format.
Second of all, you must have an original oemlogo.ini file because of the
commandlines in that file.
The following is an example which you can use.
Remember not to change the first lines (general, manufacturer, model and
support information)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[General]
Manufacturer= Type here your name or whatever
Model= Here also
[Support Information]
Line1="This is a test"
Line2="You can type anything you want inhere"
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You now have your own OEM Windows version.
Have phun with it...
Greetings,
Jeroen
P.S. Don't use the lines above and below the oemlogo.ini example
