I have a very simple network, a PDC & a BDC both NT 4.0 sp5 using TCP/IP
only. The BDC is the DHCP and WINS Server. They are connected to a hub.
The BDC also has two IPs on one NIC (one Public/one Private), while the PDC
has just one (Public). I have a Public Scope and a Private Scope in a
Superscope on the DHCP Server. The only success I've had in logging on to
the Domain with a 98 client attached to the same hub is when the Public
Scope is active. If the Public Scope is deactivated and the Private Scope
is active, I cannot connect to the network ("No Domain Controller was
available...") because, I assume, I am not getting an IP address from the
Private Scope. Any ideas why I can't get an IP from the private scope?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Using and Troubleshooting the TCP/IP Scope ID
I haven't used the Scope feature before, but the above KB article seems to
be saying that both scopes need to be active on the PDC. The PDC is usually
responsible for domain logons.
