I am just waiting here, patiently, for someone with a DOS question that I can answer.
This IS the Microsoft's server's equivalent of the [alt.msdos.batch] newsgroup,
which, by all accounts, does have quite a few of it's regulars.
How is it then, that this group has no takers?...

Can you suggest some good books on dos, win95. (i look for deep knowledge of
system internals, file system, drivers development... etc.) Something
similar to "Mark Russinovich windows internals"
After getting hold of my first PC (HP Desktop Intel Pentium "1" MMX 100MHtz) with
Win95 on it I knew absolutely NOTHING.
However, I got a copy of DOS for Dummies from the local library and started from
there (which is [still] quite good but nowhere near advanced enough for what you
need, I think).
Apart from that book, I am self-taught - just many a VERY long process of
trial-and-error to get to the point where I can [usually] find a way to get something
done that I want done.
I am quite an enthusiastic armature where batch-file programming is concerned (I even
got hold of two batch-file "compilers" that create [.exe]s from [.bat] files).
But I stopped short of learning a programming language other than command-line batch
files.
Virtually all of what I know has been learnt by direct investigation by
experimentation on the OS.
This isn't because of some sort of intellectual snobbery, but because I cannot afford
books and the libraries don't carry much on computing at the intermediate level.
