Installing IE 4.0, if you can find it. Its no longer available from
Microsoft, plus you'll need to uninstall IE 5.0, 5.5 or 6 if you're
currently running them, install IE 4.0, then reinstall the later version.
Creating an Internet Explorer 5.x IEAK Package to Install the Windows
Desktop Update using this KB article:

How to Install the Windows Desktop Update with Internet Explorer 5.x
You can also try this undocumented setup switch I found here in the
newsgroups one day:
--------------------------------------------------
Actually it is possible to install the Desktop Update on a NT 4.0 and
Win95 system WITHOUT installing IE4x first, by using the undocumented
IEAK command line install switch. IE5x must be installed, and you must
be connected to the internet for this to work. You then go to the directory
where the ie5setup.exe file is, and enter these commands:
For NT4.0:
IE5Setup.exe /C:"ie5wzd /e:IE4Shell_NTx86 /I:Y"
For WIN95:
IE5Setup.exe /C:"ie5wzd /e:IE4Shell_WIN /I:Y"
I`ve tried this a couple of times on both OS`s, works pretty good.
