USB support in Windows 95 with the USB supplement installed is very
flakey at best and the great majority of USB devices will not work
properly with Windows 95.
You do have the correct version for installing the USB supplement.
Look on your Windows 95 CDROM in the \other\USB folder for the
usbsupp.exe file and double click on it to install the supplement.
Good luck

Open the Device Manager (My Computer->Properties->Device Manager) and check
to see if "Universal serial bus controller" is listed. If so, the USB
supplement should be installed.

Does your USB controller appear OK (no "!") in Device Manager?
(Start, Settings, Control Panel, System, Device Manager tab)
>>2. If I do not have it how do I get it for these USB ports
Two levels to this.
Firstly, you need to extend Windows 95 SR2 ("B") by applying the
USBsupp.exe patch, which provides support for USB and AGP.
Then you may need to get chipset-specific drivers for your particular
USB controller, if Win95 SR2 doesn't recognise it natively.
You can start by looking for the USBSupp.exe file on your CD - if it
has "with USB suppliment" on it or is OEM Service Release 2.1 or
later, it will be on the disk. If it's OEN SR 2.0, it won't be.
If it's not there, you'd have to search for it on the 'net. But note
that not all USBsupp.exe are the same:
- some may be specific to particular chipsets or system brands
- some may differ in version
- some may be infected or trojanized with malware
So, be careful where you get yours from, and read the page's
documantation (the last one I used had files other than the base
USBSupp.exe that had to be installed in correct order).

More particularly, although USB is supported in Win95 SR2.x, this does
not imply that vendors selling USB devices will write driver code that
supports that OS version. Most will take their cue from MS, who
ceased to support all Win95 versions (which probably also means they
don't answer developer's questions regarding problems with Win95 SR2
USB support). The result; drivers that require Windows 98 or later.

If the USB Supplement is already installed, it should appear in Control Panel> Add\Remove Programs.
If it is not installed, look for usbsupp.exe on the Windows 95 CDROM in the \other\USB folder...double-click it to install.
You can get the USB Supplement and the USB Supplement Update in zip files here:
http://sonic.ucdavis.edu/so03000.html
Download and unzip usbsupp.zip and usbupd2.zip
http://sonic.ucdavis.edu/usbsupp.zip
http://sonic.ucdavis.edu/usbupd2.zip
Install the usbsupp first, and reboot when prompted.
Then install the usbupd2, and reboot even though it will not prompt for one.
To test your USB set-up when done:
ftp://ftp.aesystems.com/pub/outgoing/usbready.exe
Many devices will not work with Win95B's version of USB regardless, as their drivers will require Win98.
