Anyone have the Doom 2 screensaver for Windows 3.1. My floppies failed
and the copies I saved on my CD I can't extract it. Just checking my
collection of all my Win 3.1 games, programs etc etc and unfortunately
one gets ruined. Thanks.

What's wrong with the CD copies?

Got scratched. I went to the floppies but alas they are failing and couldn't
save them. I saved most from my storage for all my windows 3.1 games and
programs cd but I can't get the Doom 2 scr. I saved everything to a new copy
but 1 casualty and it was that. At least I was able to save After Dark 3.2
for Win 3.1. It was cool because if you had AD 3.2 on your system then
install Doom 2 it would save it as a module in AD! The good ole days.

Wow, I never knew that... not having EVER used After Dark.

You know, it *might* be possible to retrieve the .scr from the CDs. There are
all kinds of "holy shit I didn't know *that* worked" tricks to repair
scratched disks, as long as it's just a surface scratch and not a "see
through the entire CD" scratch. Banana peels, toothpaste... uh... well, I'm
sure there's more.

I even have After Dark for Dos only. It came in its own box. Found it in the
trash where they throw the computers away in the salvage yard. Brand new in the
box. In those days I "suppose" it was too "primitive".

That would be awesome. Someone from Argentina who likes Win 3.1. There is
still a lot of people out there who keep this OS alive. I now have all my
files and collection on several flash drives and cd's. Making sure I don't
make the same mistake again.
