can anyone help me with this, please, if there isn't any violations of
licence involved.
i need anyone to send me the mos standard available autoexec.bat,
config.sys win.ini and system.ini
why?
i have a compaq presario 660 system bought in the us. i have no win 3.x
disks. i'm in colombia south america. compaq here wouldn't give me any
support.
and:
i'm changing my system' mainboard, video card, from the compaq board
with video onboard to an aristo board and a trident video card, but i'm
not changing my win3.x hard disk. so the configuration files are full of
calls to compaq system files and windows 3.x can't start.
so i'm no expert and i don't know how many more changes to do on the
system files already mentioned (and needed)
so help.
thanks
pedro

Since you have changed the video card, it is very likely that you need a
different video driver. You can change that from DOS without Windows running as
follow. Change to the Windows directory (CD WINDOWS) and key SETUP. Drop the
list of display drivers and choose the appropriate one. At the bottom of the
list is Other. Use that to choose the driver that came with your video card.
For the flavor of what's happening, see this article.

1. the video display is very very slow, everything redraws very slowly, so i think
there's always some wrong driever or mode running the video card.
2. the compaq mouse won't work. already changed it to logitech, genius, and many
others in the drop down list.

You need to locate the proper driver for your new card, Pedro. If no Windows 3.1
driver came with it, check the manufacturer's web site.
It's also possible that they have no 16-bit driver for a very recent card. You
may want to reinstall the old card.

If you're talking about the mouse in Windows, you'll need to experiment. The
classic fix is to reinstall it. So maybe you will need to get a new one that
comes with the software.
I'll be away for a while starting about 18 hours from this post. I'm traveling
from California to Tokyo. I'll try to check in here from Japan. Otherwise, it
will be about 11 days.

recognized the mouse and it worked and also i already tried insalling a mouse software
driver from logitech and it didn't find the mouse.
already loaded the right trident video card drivers but it remais very slow.
