Hello

A prospective client has a Alcatel OmniPCX Office system and they would
like the ability to see queuing calls.

Does anyone know if this system has a third party TAPI driver and how it
is configured?

They are also using Pimphony Pro Version 4.4 Build 277.

I've sent them a small test program which lists the TSPs and the lines
they support. The Alcatel TAPI driver only lists one line.

Thanks

David

No idea but some TSPs (even those that only support a single line/first
party view) may support private extensions to let you see a snapshot of
activity on other lines (like queues.) However, only their docs would tell
you that.

BTW, by queued calls do you mean multiple calls offering on your station
line? If so then you should see just that from TAPI, that is multiple calls
in a LINECALLSTATE_OFFERING state.

No, I mean calls queued at the pbx.

Dear David,

Yes, there is a third-party TSP for the Alcatel OmniPCX Office. Alcatel
sometimes refers to the TSP as "SPI for Microsoft TAPI server". The TSP
should be supplied with the switch; I don't know how to obtain it otherwise,
although you might find it "lying around" on a download link. A lot of TSPs
are, if you browse around various web sites.

It's worth noting that your switch may need a serial number upgrade, to
enable the CTI interface on the switch. Without CTI permissions enabled on
the telephone system, the TSP won't work.

Purely FYI, the Alcatel TSP uses CSTA to communicate with the OmniPCX
Office. If you have CSTA expertise, you might prefer to do things that way,
TAPI being what it is!

Hope this helps

Hello David!

In order to monitor several TAPI lines you must order a TAPI 2.1 server
license for the Alcatel Omni PCX Office. The driver which is included in
PIMPhony normally monitor one single line (using TAPI 2.0). It is not
possible to monitor the PBX at the trunk level, but there are several
approaches to overcome this problem, for instance using virtual devices.

Best regards

As monitoring trunks is not possible with Alcatel Omni PCS Office, probably
the best way to monitor incoming call queue is to direct incoming to a
virtual device and a dynamic route to the operator. It is possible to use
PIMPhony Basic (free software) to monitor virtual devices.

Yes, it is possible to use CSTA, but this is much more expensive than using
TAPI, and there are not many tasks you cannot accomplish compared to CSTA.

TAPI 2.0 is included for free in a standard PBX configuration (including 25
monitorings), while CSTA license cost a lot.

Hmm. The chap says that he can see multiple calls on his pimphony
(Alcatel OmniPCX Office Pimphony Pro Version 4.4 Build 277), but when I
send him my tapi test program to enumerate the lines, I get this output:

17:35:32 Found the following TAPI drivers:
17:35:32 Line 0: RAS PPPoE Line0000
17:35:32 Line 1: RAS VPN Line 0
17:35:32 Line 2: WAN Miniport (L2TP)
17:35:32 Line 3: LPT1
17:35:32 Line 4: IPCONF LINE
17:35:32 Line 5: H323 Line
17:35:32 Line 6: ALCATEL - 200 - Operator 1
17:35:32 Line 7: Line Device #7
17:35:32 -------------------------

Which seems to indicate that it is running in third-party mode.

Does pimphony use tapi or their own proprietary method?

Thanks

David

PIMPhone use standard implementation of TAPI. In this case Line 6 is the one
to open. Dependent of the configurations of the Alcatel Phone Device, he may
see several incoming calls. Alcatel phones are what we call "MultiLine".
This means that we can control several Calls (NOT TAPI-lines) just by
opening one TAPI line "(ALCATEL -200 - Operator 1") for monitoring.

He may download this software
http://tedaco.com/download/tccOperator.2.5.4.exe for a free 30-days test,
and he will be able to se several incoming calls. This application is tested

for the Alcatel Omni PCX Office.

Alcatel Omni PCX Office has the ability to see status of all phone devices
using a BLF (Busy Lamp Field) license. This function uses CSTA (NOT TAPI),
and will not monitor actual calls, just phone states (including diverted
state).
