Simulate incoming call to test TAPI aware application

Hi, folks.

I want to test the capabilities of our new ERP software concerning
processing incoming calls before investing into an expensive CTI
system.

I use Windows 2000 and heard about ESP and TAPI Browser being tools
one could use to simulate incoming TAPI calls.

I downloaded ESP and I can monitor outgoing TAPI calls by e.g. Outlook
dialing a contact's phone number with it. But after "haingig up" all
available lines are close again and I cant find any way to open a line
using the Call+ button.

With TAPI Browser I can generate a lot of TAPI traffic, but nothing of
it is monitored by ESP being open parallel nor is outlook reacting in
any way opening the contact corresponding to the dialed number.

Is there anything I did wrong or is there any other way I can realize
the call simulation ?

There are no really good simulators that I know of. You could use a modem
for basic call and answer. ESP is very versatile but also extremely basic
and hard to use. You could also try using DSSP32 from Julmar
(http://www.julmar.com/samples.htm). The only other thing I can think of
is because you are using Windows 2000 you can do H.323 calls.

TAPI Browser is a TAPI program that can be used to place and receive calls
(just like Phone Dialer or Outlook). It is not a TSP simulator.

Several years passed, is there any simulator now? I'm using Win2008 server R2 64bit.

ISAPI3 for c# to develop TAPI App.

DC,
Michael Dunn already pointed out 12 years ago the existence of ESP and DSSP32.
You can find some annotations about ESP32 in my TAPI and TSPI FAQ:

That will be a problem for using ESP32 and DSSP32 because AFAIK they are only available as 32bit TSPs (but ona 64bit OS you definitely need 64bit TSPs)

TAPI apps on a 64bit OS may be 32/64bit.
