Dear All,

This is a kind of graphic file used in the help file. Could anyone tell me
how can I edit such a file or is there any software I can use. Thanks a lot!

Regards,
Kevin Liao

Hi

Hope the article below would help you in finding a answer for your
question

.SHG Files Cannot Be Edited
Last reviewed: July 23, 1997
Article ID: Q90293

3.10 WINDOWS kbtool
The information in this article applies to:

Microsoft Windows Software Development Kit (SDK) for Windows version 3.1

SUMMARY
Once a graphic has been saved in the segmented-hypergraphic (.SHG) file
format, the appearance of the graphic can no longer be edited.

MORE INFORMATION

The .SHG file format is not supported by any graphics editors, and therefore
it is impossible to load a segmented hypergraphic into a graphics editor to
alter the original image. To work around this problem, a copy of the
original graphic must be archived before creating the segmented
hypergraphic. If the display needs to be altered, then the archived graphic
may be edited. To copy the hot spots to the edited graphic, two instances of
the segmented hypergraphic (hot spot) editor, SHED.EXE, need to be opened.
The first instance should contain the original .SHG file with all of the hot
spots in place. The second instance should contain the edited graphic. The
hot spots can be copied from the original .SHG file to the new graphic using
the Copy and Paste commands available in the Hotspot Editor.

Not so any more - version 2 of the hotspot editor (shed2.exe) has a graphic
import/export function, so you can update the underlying graphic. I think it
comes with Visual Studio 6 (and probably VC 6).

But I can't find it in my VC 6.0 directory even my local hard disk.
Could you give more information? Thanks!

You're right - Microsoft didn't think to put the newest version on the CD. Try
here:

http://helpmaster.com/help/devaids/popwhat61.htm or do a web search. I can't
remember where I got it; maybe with one of our help authoring tools. I'm pretty
sure it's a microsoft program, though.
