DirectPlay is deprecated and its samples have been removed.

Do you mean your MSDN CDs/DVDs. Then see below. I do not think the sample
is available online.

The last version I found that the DirectPlay samples were included in was
9.0 Summer 2003 Update. If you can find that or an earlier version for
download you will find the sample you are looking for.

just curious, but what is going to replace DirectPlay?

I don't know. It's odd that DP is deprecated without a replacement. I
guess Indigo in the Longhorn timeframe but I haven't looked at that yet.
We recommend using core Windows APIs for networking (i.e. WinSock). WinSock
2.x includes support for efficient asynchronous comms, and the network
updates in XP SP 2 include NAT-traversal technologies (Teredo), discovery
technologies (PNRP), and peer network technologies (P2P).
Traditional lobbying and voice support can be obtained from 3rd party
libraries, and when Live! Windows technologies are made available on Windows
they will build on the core Windows APIs not DirectPlay.
