W2k Prof - lost files in a folder after browser cache clean

I expererienced this yesterday (resulted in loss of a months work).

I am using the FireFox browser and I decided to clean the browser cache.
At the time, I had previously launched a program (VB6 application) by
typing its full pathname (e.g. c:\path_to_project\myproj.vbp) in the
Start->Run menu.

When I refreshed (i.e. reset) the browser cache, all the files in the
folder c:\path_to_project\ were deleted.

Has anyone ome accross this behaviour before?

How may it be fixed?

I have not seen that behavior
Until a better answer, did you check the Recycled Bin?
Do you have a protected Recycled Bin such as Norton?
There are free 'undelete' programs on the Internet that may work if the
computer in question isn't used much after the deletion.
