First up, I'm not sure if this is the correct newsgroup. If not, please
direct me to the right one (I couldn't find Windows2003 Server deployment!)
Ok, the situation is that I am a technical trainer for an organization. I
need to be able to quickly deploy W2K3 on a regular basis to the machines we
use for teaching (often 2 or three times per week!) We use Ghost for this and
I currently use SYSPREP on the image. The deployment works well for the basic
imaging process.
We also have one mobile classroom which is based on Toshiba Tecra A9
laptops. Again, the basic deployment works ok, but I have two problems.
1) In order for our product to work on a laptop (it is not intended for this
purpose!), the Computer driver in Device Manager needs to be set to "Standard
PC". When I try to prepare the image with this set, the mini-setup wizard
never launches when the image is restored. If I image the machine without
this setting, I then have to change it on each machine after restoring the
image, which results in it re-discovering all its hardware, which is slow and
tedious.
Does anyone know why mini-setup isn't running? Any advice on how I can get
this to behave?
2) The laptop has a built-in WiFi card, which we don't use. I have tried,
but can't disable it in the BIOS. Even though it is disabled in the image, it
gets re-discovered by the mini-setup.
Is there any way, presumably in Sysprep.inf, that I can exclude certain
devices (like this card) from being discovered?
Many thanks in advance!
