setting a program to run as service

I am wanting to set a progam to run as a service on 2000
server (and also XP machines). Some programs give you
this option upon installation. I don't see anywhere
to "add service" in the MMC services control panel. I
assume I could probably edit one of the unused services
and change the path to what I want it to do, but is there
an easy way to just add one.
I don't want to have to log into the console it to run.

and if you don't have the NT 4.0 or Win2k resource kit (payware), you can use
instsrv.exe and srvany.exe from the NT 3.5 Resource kit (free). Those two files
work on Win2k and WinXP.
