windows 2003 and mirroring

Hi,

I got 2 serial ATA HDDs and got them mirrored using windows 2003 mirroring
under the Disk Management, only 1 partition.
but when I pulled out the Primary S-ATA HDD and plug the mirrored
S-ATA HDD into the primany S-ATA HDD channel, I cannot get the Windows
2003 boot up ... not even up to the Windows 2003 loading screen.
has this function been changed or removed from windows 2003 ?
because i remember i can boot up from a mirrored HDD when i was
still using NT. Or are there any extra steps that i need to do before
i can boot up from the mirrored Windows 2003 HDD ?

Windows 2003 is just like Windows 2000. There are several reasons you
might not boot from a mirror. Take a look at this article.

Sometimes the only solution is to boot from a boot disk.

I have successfully created a boot floopy disk to boot up the mirror disk,
but is it able to repair the mirror disk so that it can boot up
without the aid of the boot up floopy disk ?
I have tried to repair from the windows 2003 CDROM but
without any luck ...

Try using the recovery console option FIXMBR. When you mirror by software
you mirror partitions, or volumes as they are called on dynamic disks, and
the MBR is not included in this partition/volume definition.

When the MBR is missing you usually only get a white blinking cursor at
your screen, and nothing more.

You need to figure out why it is not booting from the mirror. Is it
because the boot.ini is wrong, MBR wrong or missing, partition not
active. The article covers these issues. You said you tried to repair
it. Did you do FIXMBR? Did you check active partition in Disk Managment?
