I'm trying to setup a connection to my office network, and
was hoping someone could help or point me to some URLs
that I haven't been able to find.
The office network is W2K Server and a bunch of W2K Pro
workstations. They have a DSL modem which connects to a
Linksys 4-port router, and the router connects to a 16-
port switch where the server and LAN clients plug in.
At home, I've got a similar setup, but I have a cable
modem, to the same 4-port router, but no switch. I have
both a W2K Pro desktop and an XP Pro laptop I would like
to use as clients to access systems at this office. I
would like to be able to dial-up (server also has
dedicated pots line) if necessary, but mostly use a VPN
via the Cable-to-DSL modem (or would that be router-to-
router) connection. I'm unclear about what settings I
need for that.
I'm using the 192.168.1.x address range, with the router
being the gateway and the DHCP server on both sides.
Getting out to the net works great at home and at work for
all systems, but I can't seem to configure the right
combination of settings to get out one side and in the
other (preferable as secure as possible). Even a dial-up
connection
Any help, advice or URLs appreciated.
Thanks,
Robert
