I have a Windows 2000 server I'm using as a print server
for 25 printers. A few weeks ago, all printers attached to
this server had problems printing. Sometimes they would,
sometimes they wouldn't. I could reproduce the problem by
trying to print test pages. When one wouldn't print, I'd
get the error "Test page would not print". Not very
helpful. It wasn't the printers themselves, since I could
setup a client to print straight to it by IP. I eventually
found the solution here. It was to stop the spooler
service (btw, stopping and restarting the spooler did not
solve the issue), delete all the files in c:\winnt\system32
\spool\printers, then restart the spooler service. I just
had the problem show up again. I repeated the above steps
and printing is fine again. Any ideas on what's causing
this? Nothing bad is showing up in the event log.
Thanks in advance,
John
