I have two problems logged in my Event log that need
fixing. I'm up-to-date service pack wise on win2k pro.
Also, I'm developing .NET VB apps so the dev env is there.

First NetDDE: I get a log entry every 30 minutes from
NetDDE claiming Error, Event ID 206
Description: Listen failed: 15:

Not a very useful error message as I can't figure out
what to do next to get rid of it.

Second PerfNet: I get Error 2004 every reboot
Description: Unable to open the Server service. Server
performance data will not be returned. Error code
returned is in data DWORD 0.

There is NO Server service! Never has been, that's for
Windows 2000 Server, Not win2k pro. How do I fix this?

I don't know what impact these errors have on my system
but I know that Norton NIS doesn't do performance displays
anymore. I want clean event logs, please help me get there.

Tia.

The problem you are having is because the file and
printer sharing service was uninstalled from your network
adapter. You could fix your problem in two ways:

1. Disable DDE sharing (run ddeshare.exe from command
line) or
2. Reinstall the file and printer sharing service on your
network adapter (FYI, the server service runs this
service even on win2k pro)
