Are there any befits for NTFS over FAT 32 if you don't need the security of
NTFS
i.e... is it a quicker file system than FAT 32.
THANKS for any replies
Max.

Yes as a rule, NTFS is faster than FAT32 in partitions over 4GB.

It is generally faster in partitions over 4GB, and also supports NTFS
compression, as well as features like multiple streams that allow all files
to have OLE properties.

NTFS is a journaling file system and will roll back uncommitted writes
at the next reboot. that way, if there is a system lock up or power
failure, there is very little chance that you will have corruption at
the file system level.

IOW, it is much, much more reliable than any flavor of FAT

1--extending volumes can be done on ntfs disks,
2--fault tolerance ,
3--disk quotas,
4--disk compression,
and as stated by Microsoft
5-- "It is recomended that you install
Terminal Services on a partition that is formatted with the ntfs
file system."
