I try to join a domain frim my Windows 2000 prof (final). My W2k server is
NT5.0 beta 2. I even can't use UNC paths. When I try to connect to my
server using an UNC path or when i try to join my Win2k prof, I get the
following message "The specified server cannot perfrom the requested
operation"

Can anyone help me ?

Not until you upgrade your server. Tons of changes since B2...

Okay, I have a similar problem (though a different message) and I am using
the final release of Win2K server. When I try to connect to local network I
created on the server, it says 'the network path was not found'. I'm used to
NT4 and I thought I had prepared myself for Win2K, but apparently I was
mistaken. Any ideas why I wouldn't be able to connect to this network? Oh
yeah, there is one machine on a local (domainname.local) domain and my
workstation (2000 Prof.) is currently on an NT4 domain which can't see my
new 2000 server, but it (2000 svr) can see the NT4 domain... Thanks

Is your DNS working? This is how a Windows 2000 machine locates a
domain controller.

I believe it is working, but how do I know for sure?

Hi,
Goto Tcp/Ip ADVANCED properties, click DNS tab, enable
the option "Append these DNS Suffixes in order" and enter the
name of your domain.
Right click on my computer, Network ID., click properties, then try joining
your domain. It should work.

I hope this will solve your problem, if not mail me.....

Regards,
Rajkumar
