I am on a network and I needed to swap PC's. The 'new' PC had just had
W2K Pro re-installed on it, and for some reason I can't connect it to
the network.

Here is what I have been doing:

1) Physically connecting the 'new' computer to the network with an
ethernet cable.

2) Start the machine and log on as the local Administrator.

3) Right click onto 'My Computer' and select 'Properties'.

4) Click the 'Network Identification' tab and click 'Properties'
button.

5) Click the circle next to 'Domain' and enter the domain name. Click
'Ok'

I get a response that says "The specified domain either does not exist
or could not be contacted."

However, if I check another PC that is on the network the domain name
is 'definately' correct. If I hook a different PC up to the same
network cable, it also works fine. So I am assuming that I have a
set-up problem somewhere along the lines.

Do something need doing at the server end or the user end?

Cheers
Glenn
