I am experiencing a problem with the Netmeeting
app/service 'Netmeeting Remote Desktop Sharing' (RDS).
This has occurred on W2K Pro machines running SP2 and SP3,
all in a domain. The most recent instance was on an SP3
installation. Another important piece of information that
I think may be relevant is that I went through the initial
netmeeting/RDS setup logged in as a user other than
administrator, but the user did have administrator
permissions.
What happens is, the service 'netmeeting remote desktop
sharing' will attempt to start, but it only runs in the
paused state. When I attempt to activate remote desktop
sharing by any of 3 possible methods,
-From within Netmeeting via 'Call -> Exit and Activate
RDS'.
-Right-clicking the RDS taskbar icon, and
choosing 'Activate RDS'.
-Starting the Netmeeting RDS service (changing it from
paused to started).
I receive the following error:
"mnmsrvc.exe - Application Error: The instruction
at "0x6ac95c0a" referenced memory at "0x0000001c". The
memory could not be "read"."
The error repeats each time I try to activate RDS, despite
any and every effort I have made.
I've gone through the remove and reinstall netmeeting
procedure for windows 2000 per KB article Q267958, but it
doesn't help, but I noticed that it doesn't seem to
actually uninstall the service or remove all of the files
related to remote desktop sharing (mnmsrvc.exe
specifically). Also I don't know what registry keys it is
or isn't removing in the process.
I also looked at "Q249322: Error Starting Netmeeting
Remote Desktop Sharing" which seemed promising, but it
only pertained to server editions of windows 2000, and
it's procedure didn't correct the problem.
At this point I'm stumped.
Lastly, here is a copy of what I thought to be the
pertinent information from the dr.watson error log.

I know I'm not the only one who has experienced this
problem. Any help that anybody can offer is appreciated.
Thanks,
